Abbie Barker Pyne was born April 2, 1924, at Elba, Cassia, Idaho, the daughter of John Edmund Barker and Teggie Harriet Ottley Barker, died December 22, 2005 at Sun City West, Maricopa, Arizona.
She moved to Jerome with her family in 1926 and was reared and educated in Jerome. Abbie married Leo Vincent Pyne at Jerome on Oct. 12, 1941, and the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 3, 1961. They moved to Twin Falls in 1951, where they have since resided. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For 39 years, Abbie took a very active part in the Scouting program and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1977.
Survivors include her husband, Leo of Twin Fallls; one daughter, Mary-Lou Whitaker of Boise; four sons, Leo B. (Linda) of Montpelier, Robert B. (Linda) of Falcon, Colorado, Melvin B. (Jan) of Murtaugh and Richard B. of Provo, Utah. Also surviving are one sister, Iola Lee of Quartzsite, Arizona; 30 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kelvin, one grandson, one great-grandson, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at the Twin Falls 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 667 Harrison St., Twin Falls, Idaho. Internment will be at the Elba Cemetary, Elba, Idhao, following the funeral.
Friends may visit from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel, 629 E 3rd St., Jerome, Idaho, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
